| SHIPMATE SALUTE!
Bluejacket salutes all shipmates,
active, retired and former members of the U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard,
and the U.S. Marine Corps.
The web bos'n served with all three sea service branches in a four decade
military career. Bluejacket.com was launched in November 1997 with a few
patches and pictures of favorite ships and has grown with the help of many fine
shipmates. All Coast Guard material shifted berths to
SemperParatus.com
in July 2006. HOW DO I REPLACE MY BLUEJACKETS' MANUAL?
Check the list to see which BJM edition
you received in boot camp. Here are used
BJM's and
a
new
BJM's . HOW DO I CONTACT A BLUEJACKET BOOK AUTHOR? You want United States Naval Institute in Annapolis, Maryland, the publisher of the Bluejacket's Manual and the line of trade paperbacks under the name Bluejacket Books. WHERE DO I GET MY SERVICE RECORD BOOK AND/OR SHIP'S OFFICIAL LOGS? Bluejacket does NOT have access to individual service record books (personnel records) or ship's official logs. Check with the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA). WHY ISN'T MY SHIP'S PATCH/PICTURE ON THE SITE? In 1997 Bluejacket posted casually collected naval insignia. Other collectors and shipmates responded with scans of their ship and/or squadron patches and even complete collections. Today there are nearly 10,000 naval images posted thanks to help from all corners of the globe. There are usually 500+ insignia waiting to be posted at any given time. Scans are cleaned and color levels adjusted as needed using Adobe® Photoshop® and an Intros2® graphics tablet. Because Bluejacket is a one person operation and the one person has too many projects, it takes a season to prepare and post new scans. WHERE DO THE PHOTOGRAPHS ORIGINATE? Photographs are attributed to the image creator when known. Copyright © is not claimed for material in the public domain. Unless otherwise noted photographic images are public domain. Image sources are National Archives and Records Administration, Department of Defense, Navy Department or National Museum of Naval Aviation. A few images of military individuals are provided by family for exclusive use of Bluejacket.com. WHERE DO I BUY A SHIP'S PATCH, PICTURE OR A POSTER? Bluejacket.com does not sell insignia, posters or pictures. Here are a few sources for pictures, posters and patches that may be of assistance. These are for the most part untested vendors. There is no relationship between Bluejacket and these vendors. I STILL HAVEN'T FOUND WHAT I LOOKING FOR. Check the links page. The links cover many frequently asked questions (faqs) and should answer most general inquiries. WHO PAYS FOR BLUEJACKET.COM? Bluejacket.com is a privately owned website. Expenses are offset through a minimal commission received from referral book sales. A few new books are listed along with a book search tool. LINKING TO BLUEJACKET. Text links are always welcome and will be exchanged as long as your site is not pornographic or overtly commercial. If you have a web site, blog, post to a forum, or to eBay, please do not direct link to our images. Copy an image if you must, and load it to your server. Simply linking to our material leaves Bluejacket to pay for your use of our images. SEARCH THE SITE. You can search within Bluejacket.com from the Google link on the home page . COMMENTS AND QUESTIONS WELCOME! Our general email address is the rusty old
"mailbuoy" that some shipmates
could not sight while standing "mailbuoy watch" on their first ship. If you see
something that is in error please send along a kindly worded note with the page
address and it will be corrected. FWFS, web bos'n
